A little bit of the background is still wet, this is as much as I could reduce the glare from the wet areas of paint. Once it dries and I spray it with a protective finish it won't have that problem. Also, in these photographs the background is a hair darker than the original. The last update was more accurate in that aspect.

I'm probably giving this a weird reading, but I see a level of violence in this painting. The red rope with the brownish background reminds me of claw marks on skin, like Wolverine took a swipe at somebody. The figure also gives me a sense of helplessness or at least insecurity as she is supported between two divergent points.

ReplyDeleteThe rope isn't actually red, some of the shadows are reddish and it unfortunately photographed looking much more red. Now that you mention it, it does look helpless in this image. The subtleties of this painting can really become quite different in a snapshot image. I don't think it has the same feeling in person. Glad you like it all the same!
